The A Team
While making a delivery Bender takes control of the ship and begins to do space donuts which opens up a vortex allowing what first appears to be an alternate universe PE team through but turns out is actually one of the original delivery crews for Professor Farnsworth that was thought lost long ago. During their exile in the vortex the crew decide to spend their time wisely and better themselves to make them better people and or robuts. As they are a top notch flight crew it is decided that the current delivery team is no longer needed, their career chips are removed and they are stained with the moniker of 'non-person'.
Being non-people affords Fry, Bender, and Leela to do whatever it is they want as nobody pays attention to them including free meals, long showers in the women's shower area, and disrupting the evening news. The down side is that since they are no longer recognized even Leela's parents will not acknowledge her. When they decide to remove the shirts they are arrested by the police and sent in to the Fandom Zone where they are truly invisible to everyone in New New York.
The original Express team are making the most of their opportunities of being the best delivery team on the planet. When Bender visits Planet Express he sees Mender turning off holographic images of Sheila, Dr. Zoidberg, and Sly. Turns out during their time in the vortex the other crew members were on board with the idea of bettering themselves but quickly found themselves bored with the idea and so Mender assumes command of the ship as the other crew members find themselves no longer living.
Bender is able to download himself to a spare body he has in his locker and is able to use a machine from Farnsworth to bring Fry and Leela back to reality. When they confront Mender he escapes in the original Planet Express ship to which Fry, Leela, and Bender make chase. Bender tricks Mender in to creating another vortex and Mender falls in. The end.
Ian Boothby, the writer of this issue, always finds ways to convulate the storyline, bring in elements of the show, and bring them all together at the end so the universe is just as it was prior to the story beginning. He also uses a lot of pop culture references and jokes that keeps the reader interested and paying attention to the small little details. He complimented this issue by the always capable John Delaney and Andrew Pepoy on pencils and inks. Both work well together and Delaney is consistently providing great artwork.
